Kurseong stands at an altitude of 1458 m and is 47 Km away from Siliguri and falls en route Darjeeling. ‘Kurseong‘ was a British reproduction of the name given to the hill station. The Lepchas who were the indigenous residers of Kurseong named it ‘Karsan Rup‘ which means “The land of white orchids”. Kharsang another name called by the Nepalis which means “Morning Star“. Some Local people still call the mountain home by the name “Kharsang“.
